With this being my second visit and it definitely confirmed it's a great spot for a meal! A few colleagues and I decided on Essex Bar & Bistro for lunch. The restaurant wasn't busy at the time of arrival, so we were able to be seated quickly. To say this was my second time, I was impressed with the restaurant's decor and lighting - it creates a really pleasant atmosphere. We shared delicious appetizers: the hummus, fried artichokes (which were a clear favorite), and the fried cauliflower. The cauliflower, interestingly, had a flavor profile that reminded me of butter chicken, which was a pleasant surprise. For my entree, I opted for the Mediterranean Chicken, and it was absolutely delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and catching up colleagues. I would definitely recommend Essex Bar & Bistro if your looking for delicious lunch or dinner option.

OMG! Such a hidden gem! My server, D-nice was fantastic! What an asset to this place! His suggestions for food & drink were SPOT ON! I ordered the burrata carpaccio & the lamb lollipops (both pictured). So AMAZING I can’t wait to come back and try other dishes. If you’re looking for a place with an elevated menu, look no further. Stopped by for lunch on a week day. It wasn’t too busy. Service was fast. Can’t remember what I ordered, Philly sandwich, it was spicy and really good. Enjoyed my food. I was seated inside and ambience was quiet, maybe due to timing and day of week. Overall pleasant experience and I will be back.

Food was amazing, we got the salmon (great) and the Mediterranean chicken (incredible!). Prices are reasonable, food is delicious, but most importantly, our waiter Denice provided impeccable service, made us laugh, and added to the dining experience. Would 100% return here.

I ate here about 3 weeks ago. The lamb chops were delicious. I should have posted sooner so I could give a better review, but I enjoyed my meal. There was an event somewhere else in Charlotte this same night so the restaurant was not full, which I didn’t mind at all. I’d definitely return.

Was in town this week and stopped in twice for the same dinner entree. The brussel sprout salad was so good. Highly recommend it. Service was great and so were the appetizers and atmosphere. I’ll be back next time I’m in town!

This was an impromptu late lunch at Essex since we couldn’t get into any other spots without a reservation, and Essex did not disappoint! We were greeted by Reggie at the door, who was so pleasant and welcoming—definitely gave me nostalgic vibes from my days of wanting to move to Charlotte. Our waitress, Toni, was incredibly patient, attentive, and professional. We started with the hummus and the bang bang grouper entree. I went with the grilled salmon entree, which came with creamy tomato butter, grilled broccolini, green garbanzo beans, roasted almonds, and feta. Every bite was perfectly balanced, and I enjoyed every dish. The restaurant was clean and presentable, making the whole experience even better. I’ll definitely be back!

The FRIED CAULIFLOWER is perfectly seasoned and has a delightful crunch, making it a fantastic appetizer or snack. It pairs wonderfully with a dipping sauce, enhancing its flavor even more. As for the ESSEX MARGHERITA, it's a classic choice that never disappoints. The combination of fresh mozzarella, fragrant basil, and sweet, tangy oven-roasted tomatoes makes each bite a taste of Italy. The flatbread is light and crispy, providing the ideal base for the toppings. Great spot for lunch and dinner.
